The Crawl

Good afternoon folks. I'm blogging with my eyes drowsily closing any minute now with little Hayden being rocked to sleep behind me. I just got home couple of hours ago from filthy and not-too-pleasing-to-the-eye state Chittagong, Bangladesh. Ever since I landed in Bangladesh, I kept on wishing that I could go home. Home to my baby hubby boo and to my cutie pie son.

Despite my lethargicness, I couldnt help but to blog the milestone progress of my darling son who will be turning 1 in 11 days time. What's the progress you say? Well, on 8th October 2011, which was yesterday, Hayden started his first crawl...! I wasn't there to witness this first crawl (much to my disappointment) but I was glad he only started yesterday! Therefore, today, as soon I got down from the plane and the train (after my midnight flight from Bangladesh), with my hubby welcoming me home at the arrival hall, I am finally home to my 2 beloved boys! Thereafter, I witnessed Hayden's short little moves myself with my very own eyes...

A short little clip that would last a lifetime. These moments are indeed special.

Hayden's big bash is coming soon. I'm totally excited! 1 year has gone by so fast and it felt like only yesterday that I just got pregnant!

Therefore, as time is precious, love those around you. Cherish those beside you. Friends are plenty but real friends are few. Thank God everyday for the goodness he brings to your life. I thank God especially for my precious little munchkin - Hayden Dominic Ng.

Stress and the Holiday!

2246hours. Body aching, heart pumping with excitement at the same time as our trip to Perth is drawing near...

Its been such a stressful and busy month for the past weeks as I have been travelling so much and workload has been increasing as well. There isn't much days where I can just sit quietly in the office to comb through my emails. Of course it is good to be busy, but then again, I cannot wait to just drop everything and pack my bags for my long awaited holiday with my family.

Hubby has been pretty sweet as he went out and got me a Baskin Robbins ice cream cake with a little message popped on top of the cool icing which read "Love Cindy". An ice cream dessert to cool my aching soon-to-be-full-grown wisdom tooth perhaps? But I reckon, he got the cake all for himself and not so much for me as I am on diet after all!

Time passes by freakingly fast dont you think? In 1 months time, Hayden will be 1! His sleeping pattern has changed pretty drastically as he no longer takes long naps. He used to sleep 2 hours in each afternoon nap. But now, to nap for 45mins is considered really good! 1 hour, a miracle! He is also extremely playful, extremely NAUGHTY, yells with an opera voice to get our attention, climb on our body so we can carry him and walk around and gigles when we make funny faces at him. One thing that I do love, is to sing to him. He keeps silently still and listens to the songs I sing.

Boy, I dread to wonder what he will do when we take him on a 5 hours flight later on...I dont think I will be singing to him for 5 hours straight! He may love my singing, but definitely not the other passengers!

Its not going to be a peaceful journey this time around and this we are pretty damn sure!

Hayden's First Word

Hayden has finally uttered his first word : "MA!"

At first I wasn't sure. I heard it couple of times last week and it was a little faint. But on Tuesday, 26th July 2011 at about a little over 9am after his bath, the words were clearer and more distinctive from his usual sound of crying.  He was crying away whilst we changed his clothes and he suddenly yelled out "MA!!".

I told my colleagues whom are mothers (and father) themselves about Hayden's word that morning and they told me, YES. HE WAS CALLING YOU. I was thrilled! I wish I could hear it again and I want to reconfirm if indeed he was calling me.

Today, my wish came true. He yelled out "Ma!" again. This time I heard it clearer. I came over, picked him up and he stopped crying immediately. He was really calling me! And he wants me! My heart melted.

I went over to my hubby whom was watching his wrestling video in the room at that time. I said, "your son uttered his first word "Ma" and not "Da". I win! And I gave him an evil laugh....MUAHAHAHAHAHA!

He looked at Hayden and said... "Call Da Da! Quick!" Hayden just stared at him blankly...

p/s: A note for my hubby - Too late Boo... your son calls me first. Ha!

Hayden 9 months old!

Hands blistered with sweats protruding from my forehead. Hubby assisted with his strong arms as we both lifted up the baby cot's wooden base and screwed the bolts back into its place. We have successfully lowered down the cot's base! That is the sign where our baby is growing up and growing up pretty fast!

Hayden is already 9 months old. I am happy with how he is progressing. Not as fast as other babies at his age though - some are already teething, some could stand up or even dancing around with their 2 strong feet. Hayden is doing pretty all right at his own pace. He loves to run around in his walker, moving forward, backwards, side to side and his hands....boy, his hands are really fast in picking things up! He would be snatching my phone, smashing the Ipad as we FaceTime my in-laws over in Brunei/ Australia, banging his toys, slapping my face, pulling my hair....the list goes on. He is a real playful little tiger boy.

What I am really glad is that he does not rely much on his pacifier. Its not good for kids to be addicted with one, and I know for the fact that, if they are addicted with it, it will be tough for them to get rid of it as they grow older. Hence, my teaching on Hayden has been - he will only be given his pacifier during bed/ nap time. I am so glad Hayden is well taught and he does not need it anywhere he go! Not in the car, not whilst we took him shopping. He is such a good boy! (lets hope he stays this way and not turn into a little monster later on)

September is looming near. Does anyone know if parents are allowed to bring in milk powder for their babies to Australia? I am worried that when we fly to Perth for our holiday then, would the immigration confiscate Hayden's milk powder? We will declare the item of course, but would they be lenient to allow us to bring it in especially since we will be there for a week? If only Australia sells the milk powder brand that Hayden is taking...but unfortunately I was told they are not...

We'll see how it goes then.

The Heat and the Holiday

2335hours. I confined myself in my bedroom for the want of the chill cool air blowing out from my Daikin aircond. I am even contemplating to stripping down to my birthday suit as this hot weather is about to kill me any moment now. I am thinking of snow...ice....winter wonderland...or just RAIN! Why is Kuala Lumpur so terribly extremely hot these days? I think with 3 airconds blowing to my face would not even reduce the heat that I am feeling right now! Okay...Cindy is exaggerating again...but its true I tell ya! Its freaking hot here in KL!

The heat had probably fried my brain up just as much as Hubby's. We both decided to head to a far away land for our first winter holiday. Tickets purchased and visa approved! Hooray! I am going to start shopping for winter clothings for our little Hayden in preparation for the holiday in few months time! :D

There is only 1 thing I am worried about - Will Hayden be all right travelling this long distance on a flight? He definitely loves travelling by car, but by plane...I am not too sure as we had a nightmare when we brought Hayden with us to Brunei few months back and he cried (scream to be precise) in the plane throughout the journey. Well, lets bring on the milk and the pacifier and toys and his baby BLANKET! Mummy and Daddy will work together as a team to make little Hayden be as comfortable as posible. Fingers crossed...

Hayden seems fascinated with the water fountain
Hope he is just as fascinated with the clouds and the blue sky

A Mother's Instinct

Day 3 and 4.

I would have declared a personal home holiday as Hayden is free of fever for the past 24 hours! Hooray!! He is lively, smiling, laughing, actively kicking around and continue to make his opera cooing sound which fills the house like in a symphony orchestra.

I have read in babycenter.com (my favourite parenting site) that to always trust our own instinct (i.e. mother's instinct). When you find that there is something wrong with your baby's health, when others do not seem to realize, trust your own judgement. This was what happen on the first day of Hayden's fever episode. I had a nagging feeling about Hayden's health just as I carried him in my arms and snuggled him close to me.

Mother's instinct is such a powerful phenomena and a force to be reckon with. If your child seems to have no illness that can be diagnosed, or it might be written off as colic or just "one-of-those-days-grouchiness", but as a mother, you just know that something is wrong, although others told you otherwise. Most of the time you will find out that you are quite right!

There is also a saying that the most dangerous place to stand is between the mother and her child. A perfectly sane mother could turn into a bizarre and demented individual if they feel her child is being taken away from them. Hmm...quite right don't you think?

Well, for our child, it is all about loving and nurturing their life in a way that only us mothers can. For our child, there is only one mother in their world - and that is us their MUMMY!

To all mothers out there...since we are still in the month of May, a happy belated MOTHER'S DAY shout out to all of you. Mothers will remain as mothers and no one can ever take that title away from us.

Thank you to those whom have prayed for Hayden. I too thank the Lord for blessing this sweet child of mine. My little sweetheart. My darling baby.

First Fever Attack

Hayden has fever.

I felt something was not right when I carried him in my arms today. His body was warm. I caressed his face with my cheek and I felt his temperature. I knew then.

I marched into my bedroom, took out the digital thermometer and placed it between his armpit. 37.3...37.5...37.8...38.0...38.5...38.6. It beeped at 38.6.

I googled immediately for references on how high is 38.6 celcius (I knew the answer but somehow secretly wishing to find some articles that would tell me there is nothing to worry about as I was almost having an anxiety attack). It was a pointless thing to do. Any temperature higher than 37.5 C/ 100.4 F is considered high! I thought, 'could it be due to teething?' But teething does not cause fever with temperature greater than 100.4 F. I took his Uphamol (paracetamol) bottle out from the fridge (we got it from the hospital previously to relieve fever after his injections) and started rubbing the bottle between my palms, just to warm it up (like how we warm our hands during winter times). Soon after, I took his medicine tube and pumped out 2.2ml of the orange liquid and into his mouth. He drank it to my relief!

Now, Hayden is fast asleep in his bed. I am giving him a close monitoring. I read in one online article that if my baby is cooing, smiling and still want to reach for an object, he should be considered all right (Hayden is doing that). It also says, when the baby has fever we must sponge him and not wrap him tightly under the blanket, so to cool his body temperature down. I am doing exactly that as well.

Don't think I will have a good night sleep tonight. Anyhow, Hayden is a million times more important than my sleep and I will be constantly getting up from my bed every hour to check on him.

Goodnight my dear readers. Will be bringing my little darling son to see his doctor tomorrow. I pray that all is well. Pray with me too.

Little Hayden is gonna be 7 Months Old!

You must be thinking its Christmas. 2 posts in a day! What a record! I was thinking, since Man Utd won a record breaking 19th League titles in the EPL, I might just do the same - a back-to-back post inside 30 minutes (a record of my own) ;)

Hayden is turning 7 months soon. He still refuse to roll over on his own, much to my anxiety. However, he loves to sit up and does not like to be on his tummy! He absolutely loves it when I sing to him. He'd coo along whenever I sing him his favourite song - Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. He loves to smile, laugh and many of my friends and those of my parents, told me to try him out for tv commercial castings. I am thinking, should I? I don't really mind of course if there are producers or casting agents out there who wants him ;)

Now that Hayden is able to sit up, having stronger limbs, eating solids, you would be surprise on what are the things that you would need to add on to your usual baby shopping list!

New born - 4 months: clothes, diapers, milk, baby cot, baby swing, baby rocker, baby stroller, baby bath tub...

5 months -  6 months: musical toys, musical book, baby cereal, organic vegetables, blender, slow cooker (for baby's porridge), baby walker, baby bowl, baby spoon, bibs, bibs and more bips...(the solids they eat gets smudged all over his face and body, so you gotta be ready for that!)

Today, we added another item. We got Hayden a Graco baby high chair.

As our child grows older, our expenses gets higher too. They are growing up so fast right before our eyes... How I wish my bank account does the same too! Oh well, guess its time to call my broker!

Graco High Chair - picture taken from its official website
(this pic will do as the one I bought is still nicely wrapped in the box!)

My First Post in April!

As you can see I have not been writing much... much to my ardent reader's satisfaction (sorry!) or rather to appease their curiosity as to what is the latest happenings around my not-so-action-packed-kinda life. Well, I have been travelling lately and recently just got back from Abu Dhabi of UAE. I am blessed. But beyond the travel-packed schedule, I am constantly missing my loved ones at home whenever I am far away from them and of course not to mention the lethargicness as we need to head back to the office the very next day after we are back from wherever we are. No excuses!

Hayden is now 6 months of age. Would you believe it....in another 6 months time, he will be 1 YEAR OLD! I am already planning for his big birthday bash, scouting for caterers out there that has good food with good prices, tents, decorations, portable air-conds...hmm what else? Well, the idea will come natually when the time gets nearer. Coincidently, Hayden's birthday falls on the same day as my company's anniversary date. The company will be hosting its anniversary dinner on that day and for sure, like it or not, Hayden will be following his mummy on this special day too! Can I buy him a birthday cake and everyone sings him his first actual birthday song as well? That would be most memorable for a sentimental mother like me.

How has your child been at 6 months? Majority I read, they are able to roll over. Hayden? Sadly, he doesn't know how to yet. However, he skipped a level by being able to sit up on his own for few seconds! His dr said, there isn't anything to worry about, especially since he is able to lift up his head when on his tummy and the fact that he is able to sit up, he will be all right! So, I hope at his own pace, he will be able to roll over. I am now teaching him and training him to do so (you can call it exercising his limbs) and hopefully he will be able to do this on his own soon.

Loving him to bits. My hubby thanked me for giving him this beautiful child. I praised God and thank my hubby back for the good genes he has produced! We still have a long journey to go in this life and we will walk the path together hand-in-hand till the day we leave this world behind for the new generation.

Yours truly

My Twinkle Little Hayden at 5 Months Old!

Hayden is 5 months old today. How time really flies! Before you know it, we will all be old hags whilst our child (+ren) grow up and taking over our place as the "kids" in our parents' eyes. I thank God for blessing us with Hayden and like a broken record, I am going to say it again: I absolutely love being a mother!

Hayden, at 5 months now, is such a doll! He is able to respond to us whenever we call his name. He smiles alot when we talk to him (he probably thinks we look funny when our mouth move). He squeeks, coo and laugh when we make funny noises too!

At this point, I am waiting to see when he would be able to roll over. He already started to twist his body sideway at 4 months but thats it. His neck muscles are visbly stronger too when he tried to lift his head up when he wakes up!

His sleeping pattern? Well, when he was younger (3 months back that is), he established a sleeping pattern where he would wake up twice in the middle of the night. Once at 2am. Another at 5am. I am quite used to get up and feed him despite being in a sleepy state. The books I read and other experience mothers told me: "When he gets older, he would not wake up middle of the night anymore..." "He would sleep longer if you turn off the light so he knows its night time..." "Let him cry till he falls asleep again..." "Let him drink more than the usual amount before his bedtime". So guess what? I've tried every method and right now at 5 months he is still the SAME. His sleeping pattern did not change. His last feed would be at 7.45pm before bedtime. I know some of you probably would advise me to feed him last around 10pm so he would sleep longer. I've tried that method too. Doesn't work. He has subconciously set his own alarm clock ...

Little baby Hayden is a joy to my life. I love him to bits! Hubby and I would definitely want a second child in later year(s). Be it Hayden's lil' brother or lil'sister, doesnt matter. So long he/ she is healthy. Agree? But of course I am openly hoping that my second child would be a girl!

Like they say, picture paints a thousand words. But video paints a billion. So here's a treat for you - a video of Hayden today.

Hayden Today

As I am waiting for Glee Season 2 rerun to begin on StarWorld, I thought of Hayden (he is already sound asleep in the room). He will be 100th days old tomorrow! Time flies right before my eyes, and soon, I'm sure, he will running around mischievously and I will be with a cane in hand.

Hayden went for another scheduled monthly jab today and to our shocking surprise, he did not cry at all! What's more surprising, he was smiling at us right after! Hayden Dominic, you make mummy & daddy so proud of you! (even his dr sang praises about him!) 7 kg now, Hayden is such a darling!

His saliva is starting to drool and he is awake most of the time during day time. His eyes starts to focus on our faces and he will smile whenever we talk to him. I would keep a routine on his daily schedule and I personally think it is important that I do so :-

10.30am - "pom pom time!" (bathing time)
7.00pm - "massage time!"
9.30pm - "bed time!"

My mom does the same routine when Hayden is over at my parents'. He is naughty of course (he constantly wants to play! Then he gets absolutely tired and starts to cry real LOUD before he finally goes to sleep). Everybody loves Hayden (including my maid!) He definitely brings happiness to everyone around him especially when he puts on his killer smile...!

Hayden will be travelling by plane for the first time when we return home in Brunei this Chinese New Year. His grandpa & grandma in Brunei already missing him terribly!

Happy Chinese New Year to all my fellow Malaysians and everyone else around the world who celebrates this festive season! Kong Hei Fatt Choy!

Tears in the Sky

I dont know what to say. I dont know what to think. It was only 2 days ago that I pen down my happiness of having my son next to me. 10 minutes ago, I bid him goodbye yet again as my parents came by to pick him up. I held back my tears.

Its going to rain soon and the sky is gloomy reflecting the same for my emotion. Why must the day pass by so fast? If its not for my trip to Singapore early tomorrow morning, Hayden would still be staying with me until Monday comes.

He cried when he left the house (I would love to think that he cried because he misses me). But no. He was just sleepy. Sigh...

I wish I could express my inner emotion right now. I don't like to be parted with my baby. I have no choice. I wish my parents could turn back their car and head straight back to my house right now. How I really wish they are only staying next door!

Come back Hayden! Mummy miss you so much now!!!!

15 January 2011

Friday - My Favourite Day!

Everyday I count till this day - the day I have my son back in my arms, right here at home. Though I do see him at my parent's place but the feeling is different as I don't get to sleep next to him, dont get to smell him in between feedings, dont get to steal some quick sleepy glance at him in the middle of night....

Finally Friday came (yesterday) and I couldn't wait no longer! I skipped lunch and took a 25mins drive from the office back to my parent's place, my maid did a speedy gonzalez pack of Hayden's belongings, carried the baby into the car, said goodbye to my mom and took slow and steady drive back home.

It is such a wonderful feeling having Hayden back again. He was sitting in the car, smiling as I explained to him about his surroundings (the cars, the birds, the trees, the humans on motorcycle), though it was a one-way talk but I assumed he love my voice as he couldn't stop making the cute babyish sound so I continued on talking away.... (my maid's english improved so much now thanks to my constant babling).

As I head back to work after dropping my sweetheart back at home, time flies so incredibly fast! 6pm came and I quickly clear all my work off. The whole time I couldn't stop smiling, I kept telling everyone that I see in the office that my son is back! Not that they know what I was talking about, but I couldn't stop saying those words, "my son is back! Im going to see him later :D " - I guess its a motherly thing eh?

My hubby is no different. He kept calling me in between his work and we both talked about nothing but our son. He rushed through his schedule, just to see his son back at home. It is such a blessing. What a child can do to us as a family is amazing. It brings joy, laughter and everlasting love.

Little Hayden is awake now, till my next post....

I Miss Hayden

Here I am sitting down on my couch watching tv, playing Cityville, scrolling through FB reading all my friends' status and pictures AND thinking of my baby Hayden all at the same time. I miss Hayden.....I miss my son....terribly!!

Hayden has been staying over at my mom's place since yesterday as I began my first day of work since my delivery date 2 months back. I was supposed to head over to Cheras after work today and I was since the clock striked 6pm. Getting out of my office area took me half an hour (usually takes only 5 mins). Getting to the highway took me 45mins (usually 10mins). At the highway to the middle of the highway took me 1 hour. Stopped. Crawl again. Stopped. Crawl again. I was only on neutral gear the whole time!!! Arrghh! Why must it rain today? Everytime it rains, traffic gets SUPER bad all the time. Finally, I knew its impossible to get back to Cheras unless I dont mind getting stuck for 2 hours on the road. Since my body is currently battling with the cold virus I decided to make a detour and head home instead.

I made a call to my mom whilst on the road, listening and talking to Hayden through the phone... as soon as I hear him cooing over the phone, my heart sank. I missed him. I miss him so so much! Sigh......

I need to see him no matter what before I fly off to Bali again this Friday. If my nose is not dripping with white slimy mucus by then, I will be kissing him all over!!

Hayden darling... Mummy miss you terribly. Mummy wants to hug you and smell you and kiss you. Love you sweetie pie!!

27th Dec 2010 - Injection Day!

Hayden went for his 2nd month injection yesterday and unlike the month before, he cried only for a few seconds! We are so proud of him! I've recorded a video of the whole process so enjoy!

My darling Hayden!

Finally after few long months, I'm back in my parent's house...which means I now have a proper access to a computer...and THAT means I now can now upload photos in my blog! (really sucks big time for not being able to upload any photos or videos in blogspot)!

Anyways, as of today, Hayden is now 1 month and 18 days! Time really flies huh?

To my ardent readers whom have not seen the picture of Hayden, here's a little treat for you ... to see how much Hayden has grown from day 1 at the hospital till today....

Left to right: Day 1 at the hospital; Day 4 leaving the hospital; Day 4; Hayden is home!

His many facial expressions...

His irresistible smile
