American Idol Season 9 - Top 20 (Week 2)

Another week another elimination (4 eliminations to be exact).

American Idol Top 20 this week showcased 10 boyz and 10 girls belt their hearts out in front of millions of viewers. Just like my previous post, you probably would realize by now, every week I would be posting about the Idol contestants, featuring one contestant whom is/was the best for the week - best for me that is!

This week's elimination round, we saw the following 4 contestants got booted out from the Idol camp:-

Michelle Delamor (no big surprise here from the way she sang this week);

Haeley Vaughn (someone who tried to look sweet week after week - guess she tried TOO hard);

Jermaine Sellers (surprise surprise. During the audition round, he was considered a good contender for the Idol crown! But lately, he seems like a nobody. Can't really remember him or his performance);

John Park (besides his body, nothing else is good, so not really a surprise that he is out!)

Siobhan Magnus

Ok...ok ... these 4 contestants are not whom I want to feature in my post here. This week's Idol highlight for me is SIOBHAN MAGNUS. I do agree with the judges' comment on Siobhan and at the same time I dont quite agree about some parts of it. Let me tell you why:-

I agree: when Simon commented that she is "a funny little thing" and interesting.
Something about Siobhan makes me want to know more about her. She seems like a simple, unique & cool kinda girl. But weird in a way. However, when she openned her mouth to sing Aretha's song "THINK" and when she hit the crazy high note, I was like...OMG!!!!!!! WOW!!!!

I disagree: the judges didnt think Siobhan was the best performer for the night, I strongly and totally disagree with them. Siobhan was the best and I hope she can pull-off another amazing performance next week!

Its going to be Top 16 next week. Who can pull it off? Who will collapse through the mounting pressure? We shall wait and see...

A.I Result Episode Top 24 Week 1

All right, I've been giving feedbacks on American Idol via my twitter page and I thought I could blog something about the Result Episode last week right here in this blog for the benefit of my readers here.

Last week's result episode showed 4 contestants being voted out by the public (2 boyz 2 girls):-
Janell Wheeler
Ashley Rodriguez
Joe Munoz
Tyler Grady

Whilst these 4 contestants (I meant ex-contestant) were given a reality-check that they have the lowest number of votes, only one contestant reacted bitterly...

From my television set at home, I was taken aback with Ms.Rodriguez reply and facial expression when Ryan asked her of her feelings... no doubt she can sing, but every contestants are really good in singing too! She should have taken the defeat gracefully and at least give a more proper and genuine thank you speech...

Guess she reaaallllyy never thought she would be the second person to be eliminated.
(but then again, this is just my humble opinion)...

Good luck to her and the rest of the 3 contestants. They should be proud of themselves for getting this far in the Idol stage. And for Janell Wheeler, I like her! She seems sweet and she looks good on camera! Hope she'll get booked from film directors/ producers in the American entertainment industry...

A.I - Top 24 Episode Recap (Week 1)

American Idol this week features the final 24 contestants singing their hearts out to land a spot in the final 12! As I type, I'm watching a rerun of yesterday's episode where Todrick Hall just came on stage and received some mix criticism on his song choice of "Since You've Been Gone" by Kelly Clarkson.

Here's what I got to say about his performance:-

Song Choice: Smart choice (turning the song into his own song)

Creativity: Practically changed the original song into another original song - as it sounded completely different! Like what Simon said, it practically murdered the original song.

Rating: 6 out of 10. I have to give credit to his vision, his creativity as in the Idol stage, it is not easy to do what he did.

Singing capability: Pretty good. I like his tone of voice

Prediction: We will see more of him as I an idol fan myself, I want to see what else he can come out with every week! If he succeed, he will go far - a singer, dancer and a composer!

Idol Seaon is Back!

You might be wondering....why there isn't any post since after I went to Singapore to watch the War of the Roses match together with my FIL... there's only one reason, and that's because my stupid Red Devils team Man Utd lost to Leeds!!! :( I was mourning in disappointment...

Well, now I'm back as the Idol fever is back! American Idol aired on our satelite channel since last Wednesday and its getting bigger and better especially since Simon Cowell's announced that this would be his last Idol season. Sad...he made the whole show worth watching, honestly speaking.

There's one special audition I would like to share with you, and to me, I personally think its all narrated & planned out by the producers of the show to spice things up. Watch this video and I'll tell you why:-

Why I think this audition was all planned out intentionally:-

a) Larry Platt (the contestant) is 62 years old. How on earth can he get past the door in the first place? Everyone knows all contestants must fill up a form detailing about themselves in order to participate and the rule says: contestant must be 16 - 28 years of age!

b) Simon to say, "What's the name of this song?" - Did he say that so that all audience would remember the title?

c) Simon to say, "I got a horrible feeling that this song would be a hit" - Simon being Simon. He himself is already an idol to all of us, hence, whatever he say, would surely have a huge impact in the media industry.

So I'd say, "Pants on the Ground" was made famous not by Gen. Larry Platt but by Simon Cowell!

Anyway, that's just my opinion... I do admit that this song does really stick to my head as it keeps ringing in my ears as I blogged it out here haha!
