30 is the New 20!

In continuation of my earlier post, as I am celebrating (still am!) my third decade of life, firstly, I thank God for the years and the life that he has bestowed upon me. We all should be thankful for making through year after year of our birthdays as life journey can be unpredicatable. We just got to brave ourselves for the tide that may come once in a while and live appreciatively for the things that God has blessed us with.

I woke up this morning at 8am in a daze. I wanted to continue my precious sleep (as I got home at 2am!) but how could I resist the temptation of kissing my 2 sweethearts when hubby brought our son into my arms and gave me a sweet birthday kiss (Hayden kissed me too! Though kinda sloppy but I love it)!

Hubby and I made our way to the Gardens for a movie marathon in the afternoon. Pirates of the Caribbean and Priest. We ended up watching POTC only and ditched Priest as we wanted to go home to spend some time with our son before heading to our twosome candle-lit dinner downtown.

By 7pm, we dressed to our best and headed to Cafe Cafe, a romantic french fine-dining restaurant located along Jalan Maharajalela (next to Dewan Bahasa & Pustaka). This restaurant has won many awards and is popular with its small but cozy, dimly lit set up and its glorious food. I must say, they got it absolutely right! It is beautiful.

Cafe Cafe, KL

First course: Pan seared Foie Gras
Love it! Its really really good!

2nd course: Clams with wine
Very generous with the amount of clams given.

Main course: Racks of lamb
Lamb cooked to its perfection. Absolutely delicious!

Dessert: Original chocolate cake (one of their signature dessert)
As you cut it down in the middle of the cake, hot and creamy chocolate oozes out from within. Gorgeous!

Thank you hubby for taking me to this beautiful restaurant! I'm very happy!
30 is indeed the new 20. I feel fresh and young and womanly sexy!

The Eve of 30

Time check: 3AM. Location: Kuala Lumpur. It is still 28th May in England as I blog on the past and I am secretly hoping my favourite football team would win on this very day. Champions League Final between Barcelona and Man Utd! Can the Red Devils win in their so-call home turf - The Wembley stadium?

Turning to the big 3 has been great so far. Though it seems just like any other ordinary day,  but thanks to my friends and colleagues, they had made the difference. Now, what did I do on the eve of my birthday? Time to recall from my almost recovered hang-over physique...

Celebrated my birthday in the office with a nicely written birthday card - "Mummy Cindy" - (very meaningful messages inside, so thank you everybody!) and a beautifully wrapped birthday pressie from my colleagues!

They asked me what I want for my birthday, and I said, "I don't know what I want! Maybe toys?" Cuz I don't really think of myself anymore and all I can think of is my son, my beautiful baby Hayden. So my birthday present is a present for my son! :D Thanks for buying this perfect gift for me! I love it!

Night time, night out with my friends. First at La Bodega: Margarita, Long Island, and the traditional must-have-drink-that-makes-you-drunk drink, Flaming Lamborghini! Then at WIP: A bottle of Bombay Saphire! What a total knock out!

My favourite tiramisu presented to me when the clock striked 12! OMG! I AM 30!

From Dome, to La Bodega and finally to WIP, thank you SGs for spending this beautiful night with me. We rocked BSC through and through! Friends forever!

A Mother's Instinct

Day 3 and 4.

I would have declared a personal home holiday as Hayden is free of fever for the past 24 hours! Hooray!! He is lively, smiling, laughing, actively kicking around and continue to make his opera cooing sound which fills the house like in a symphony orchestra.

I have read in babycenter.com (my favourite parenting site) that to always trust our own instinct (i.e. mother's instinct). When you find that there is something wrong with your baby's health, when others do not seem to realize, trust your own judgement. This was what happen on the first day of Hayden's fever episode. I had a nagging feeling about Hayden's health just as I carried him in my arms and snuggled him close to me.

Mother's instinct is such a powerful phenomena and a force to be reckon with. If your child seems to have no illness that can be diagnosed, or it might be written off as colic or just "one-of-those-days-grouchiness", but as a mother, you just know that something is wrong, although others told you otherwise. Most of the time you will find out that you are quite right!

There is also a saying that the most dangerous place to stand is between the mother and her child. A perfectly sane mother could turn into a bizarre and demented individual if they feel her child is being taken away from them. Hmm...quite right don't you think?

Well, for our child, it is all about loving and nurturing their life in a way that only us mothers can. For our child, there is only one mother in their world - and that is us their MUMMY!

To all mothers out there...since we are still in the month of May, a happy belated MOTHER'S DAY shout out to all of you. Mothers will remain as mothers and no one can ever take that title away from us.

Thank you to those whom have prayed for Hayden. I too thank the Lord for blessing this sweet child of mine. My little sweetheart. My darling baby.

Day 2 - On the Road to Recovery

Day 2. Hayden is getting better. As I type here, Hayden is making a longggg opera-like singing sound in his rocking chair, whilst playing with his toys. He has also been sweating alot. I am relived. My lethargicness kicks in as I had been a night owl watching over him throughout the past 2 nights.

A special thanks to my kind bosses whom allowed me to be off work for 2 days to care for my 7 months old child (Hayden is exactly 7 months old today!). But then again, as I am a "filial" employee, I would still be working from home with my laptop and my blackberry next to me. Gotta watch out for my KPI ... know what I mean? (*wink*)

Have I mentioned before that Hayden loves to play in his little bath tub? But he can't have it today...

Hayden: Waaaaaaaa!!!
Mummy: What is it darling? (As I was changing his clothes)
Hayden: Waaaaaaaaaaa! Gerrrrrr.....!!!
Mummy: No pom pom today. You cannot pom pom ok? Mummy is not going to let you play with water today sweetheart.
Hayden: WAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!
Mummy: You get well first ok? Once you are well, then you can play-play in the water....
Hayden: Oooo.......

I like to think that he knows what I am talking about as he kept staring at me and gave me a killer smile at the end.

His fever had been like a roller-coaster. One moment up, one moment down. This of course I have already expected. As per the doctor's advice, should he be free of fever for a full 24 hours, then he is completely well. The last fever he had was at 6.30am this morning. So, if Hayden is free of fever by tomorrow morning 6.30am, I can fully rejoice!

Time to make him sleep now. Guess I might just take a nap myself too. Goodnight/ afternoon everybody.

Hayden's medicines.
Hope he doesn't need to take it anymore after this!

First Fever Attack

Hayden has fever.

I felt something was not right when I carried him in my arms today. His body was warm. I caressed his face with my cheek and I felt his temperature. I knew then.

I marched into my bedroom, took out the digital thermometer and placed it between his armpit. 37.3...37.5...37.8...38.0...38.5...38.6. It beeped at 38.6.

I googled immediately for references on how high is 38.6 celcius (I knew the answer but somehow secretly wishing to find some articles that would tell me there is nothing to worry about as I was almost having an anxiety attack). It was a pointless thing to do. Any temperature higher than 37.5 C/ 100.4 F is considered high! I thought, 'could it be due to teething?' But teething does not cause fever with temperature greater than 100.4 F. I took his Uphamol (paracetamol) bottle out from the fridge (we got it from the hospital previously to relieve fever after his injections) and started rubbing the bottle between my palms, just to warm it up (like how we warm our hands during winter times). Soon after, I took his medicine tube and pumped out 2.2ml of the orange liquid and into his mouth. He drank it to my relief!

Now, Hayden is fast asleep in his bed. I am giving him a close monitoring. I read in one online article that if my baby is cooing, smiling and still want to reach for an object, he should be considered all right (Hayden is doing that). It also says, when the baby has fever we must sponge him and not wrap him tightly under the blanket, so to cool his body temperature down. I am doing exactly that as well.

Don't think I will have a good night sleep tonight. Anyhow, Hayden is a million times more important than my sleep and I will be constantly getting up from my bed every hour to check on him.

Goodnight my dear readers. Will be bringing my little darling son to see his doctor tomorrow. I pray that all is well. Pray with me too.

Little Hayden is gonna be 7 Months Old!

You must be thinking its Christmas. 2 posts in a day! What a record! I was thinking, since Man Utd won a record breaking 19th League titles in the EPL, I might just do the same - a back-to-back post inside 30 minutes (a record of my own) ;)

Hayden is turning 7 months soon. He still refuse to roll over on his own, much to my anxiety. However, he loves to sit up and does not like to be on his tummy! He absolutely loves it when I sing to him. He'd coo along whenever I sing him his favourite song - Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. He loves to smile, laugh and many of my friends and those of my parents, told me to try him out for tv commercial castings. I am thinking, should I? I don't really mind of course if there are producers or casting agents out there who wants him ;)

Now that Hayden is able to sit up, having stronger limbs, eating solids, you would be surprise on what are the things that you would need to add on to your usual baby shopping list!

New born - 4 months: clothes, diapers, milk, baby cot, baby swing, baby rocker, baby stroller, baby bath tub...

5 months -  6 months: musical toys, musical book, baby cereal, organic vegetables, blender, slow cooker (for baby's porridge), baby walker, baby bowl, baby spoon, bibs, bibs and more bips...(the solids they eat gets smudged all over his face and body, so you gotta be ready for that!)

Today, we added another item. We got Hayden a Graco baby high chair.

As our child grows older, our expenses gets higher too. They are growing up so fast right before our eyes... How I wish my bank account does the same too! Oh well, guess its time to call my broker!

Graco High Chair - picture taken from its official website
(this pic will do as the one I bought is still nicely wrapped in the box!)

Its May!

And yes I am blogging again. Thanks to my friend (you know who) whom just told me that she has been waiting for my writeup! Lazy me...!

I am thinking, my laziness could be due to the fact that I am turning "18" end of this month. My hubby told me I am getting old and in retaliation I told him, I may be getting old, but I am downright sexy!! He then asked me what do I want for my birthday, and I said... I want to dine in a fine dining french restaurant with Michelin stars! Whilst I gave him my sweetest innocent smile, he gave me a look and said, "Stop watching Masterchef." (duh!)

My hubby knew I can't get enough with this Masterchef show. Has anyone of you been following Masterchef? The Australian version to be exact. I got hooked when I watched the Junior Masterchef and those kids were extremely talented and made me look hopeless in the kitchen! Once Junior Masterchef ended, I continued on with Masterchef Australia Season 2. My daily routine has been such that once I am home from work, I will shower, turn on my Vaio, take a poo and watch Masterchef on youtube.com. (whilst pooing)... Ahh... Life is such a bliss.

Today is the final day of the weekend. Its gonna be Monday blues again tomorrow! No more travelling schedules for now... but there will be one later on and I am really looking forward to that one - think Ronaldo. The young Ronaldo. That's where I will be heading. Fingers crossed.
